The Greater Augusta Back To School Program has teamed up with Community Partners to bring an interactive Literacy Program to our area.
Kicking off the Literacy Initiative on October 27th at the City of Augusta Childcare, Buker Center was Senator Matt Pouliot with a wonderful book written by Eleanor Roosevelt, WHEN YOU GROW UP TO VOTE.
A Group of (24) Third & Fourth Grade Students gathered to learn about government, at all levels.
GABTSP Vice President, Lina Michaud, who initiated the Literacy Program noted that she was thrilled to see the excitement and positive interaction with Senator Pouliot and the Students. The enthusiasm was just electric and the questions they had for the Senator were awesome. The timing was perfect with elections, right around the corner.
The session ended with Senator Pouliot extending an invitation for the Students to visit the State House.
A special Thank You to Senator Matt Pouliot and Childcare Director, Bethany Sproul-Lebrun for working with the GABTSP to make this opportunity possible.
We would also like to extend our appreciation to the Augusta Emblem Club #233, an Auxiliary to the Augusta Elks Lodge for their support of Literacy and jumping on board as a Community Partner. Below are some pictures from this event!
The Greater Augusta Area Back to School Program teamed up with the Albert Church Brown Memorial Library in China to support their Booksgiving Event for the Holidays. We are pleased to help promote Literacy in our surrounding communities.
